Aug. 21, 1881 was living at 3247 Park Ave. in Indianapolis, Marion county, IN. and working in advertising (self-employed). His nearest relative was his mother, Ada North Field who was living at 1209 E. 99th St. in Cleveland, OH.
Vinton was described as of medium height, stout build with brown hair and brown eyes and nothing that would physically disqualify him from serving in the military.

1910 census Indianapolis,IN roamer with Louis F. and wife Maud(41)Elvin. They have one son Ralph G.Elvin(19) and Louis's father lives with themGardner W.Elvin(76). Vinton is (28). Vinton workds in the Law Book department at a book store.

1920 census he lived in Indianapolis,Indiana and was a manager of an advertising agency.He is rooming with a man and wife Louis F. and Maude Elvin. She is from Ohio.

Past president of the Optimist Club of Indianapolis, and he was International President (1933-34).

DEATH CLAIMS FORMER CHIEF OF OPTIMISTS
International Club Leader Dies At Home of Mother; Funeral Will Be on Wednesday
Death early yesterday claimed V. Ernest Field, formerly international president of Optimists clubs. He succumbed at the Redlands home of his mother, Mrs. Jasper Newton Field, 406 West Cypress avenue.
Because of failing health, Mr. Field retired recently from management of the Field Advertising service, prominent Indianapolis advertising and publishing agency and came to Redlands to reside with his mother. He had been here only 16 days.
UNIVERSITY TRUSTEE
He was 57 years old, a native of Ohio, a graduate and trustee of Dennison university. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a thirty-second degree Mason and a civic leader at Indianapolis.
A frequent visitor to Redlands, Mr. Field was the son of the late Dr. Jasper Newton Field, founder and first president of the University of Redlands.
FUNERAL WEDNESDAY
He is survived by his mother and three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Field Foster, Santa Monica; Mrs. Lous Field Clatworthy, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Helen Field Skillin, Santa Paula.
Funeral services will be conducted at the F. Arthur Cortner chapel in Redlands at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Lewis Jacobsen, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside cemetery.
