William S. Douglass was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Ogdensburg, a son of William S. Douglass Sr. and Margaret Robinson Douglass . He was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. Mr. Douglass served in the Army with the 74th Engineers during World War II, seeing duty in Alaska and Europe.

He married Kathryn M. LaComb of Ogdensburg Sept. 10, 1946, at St. Mary's Cathedral rectory with the Rev. John Ryan officiating. The couple lived at their State Street home most of their married life. Mrs. Douglass died in August 1985, at age 67.

Mr. Douglass was employed by the LaComb News Agency in Ogdensburg, a business owned by his wife's family. The agency was later sold and became New York Periodicals. He continued to work there until 1992. Mr. Douglas spent winters with his daughter in Texas for the past several years. He was a member of American Legion Hanbridge Post 69, Ogdensburg, and the 74th Engineers' Association.

Surviving are a son, Stephen, Ogdensburg; three daughters, Ann and Linda J. Douglass , both of Liverpool, and Patricia McGrath, San Angelo, Texas; five grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Douglass , Jensen Beach, Fla., and Ralph Douglass , Ogdensburg; a sister, Mrs. Watson (Margaret) Fowler, Lock Haven, Pa., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Charles G. Douglass , died July 19, 1993.
