John H. Bolte was born Oct. 10, 1915, in New York City, son of William and Sarah Pflus Bolte , he graduated from Boys High School, Manhattan. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 on patrol torpedo (PT) boats. He married Harriett Coram on Sept. 1, 1940, in New York City.

Mr. Bolte was a project manager on the construction of the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River; the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, from Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, to Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island; the Castleton-on-Hudson Bridge, and the Massachusetts Transportation Authority's subway system in Boston.

He later worked at Onondaga Sewer Treatment Plant, Syracuse, and was a claims adjuster for New York state.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters and their husbands, Pamela and James Boyle, Hammond, and Karen and Joseph Mulloy, New Mexico; a sister, Joan Spazziano, Carlisle, Ohio; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A brother, William, and a sister, Dorothy Langer, died before him.
