Percy J. Bertrand was born, May 9, 1919, in Embrum, Ontario, son of Felix and Josephine Patnaude Bertrand , he attended schools in Canada. He married Rose Brisson on July 4, 1942, in Embrum. The couple lived in Valleyfield, Quebec, where Mr. Bertrand was employed as a dredge operator for the St. Lawrence Seaway.

In 1958, they moved to the United States and settled in Morristown, where they operated a dairy farm for 12 years. Mr. Bertrand was also employed as head of housekeeping for the United Helpers Home, Ogdensburg, for 10 years, retiring in 1982. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Morristown, and the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed ice fishing and playing poker.

Besides his wife, Mr. Bertrand is survived by five sons, Philippe, Donald and Bernard, Morristown, Jacques, Nashua, N.H., and Marcel, Boston, Mass.; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Georgette) Allen, Marion, Mrs. Roger (Claire) Young, East Syracuse, Mrs. Jeffery (Louise) Crann, Newton, N.J. and Mrs. David (Gisele) Carney, Surfside Beach, S.C.; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Four brothers, Robert, Charles, Rudolph and Paul, died before him.
