Mabel E. Bayne was born Nov. 28, 1909, in Ogdensburg, daughter of James and Lucy McLennen Ingram, she graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1927 and attended Crane School of Music until 1930. She married Leslie Cleland in November 1929. The marriage ended in divorce. She married Garland J. Bayne on July 24, 1965, at St. John's Church with the Rev. John Ramsey officiating. Mr. Bayne died July 20, 1982.
Mrs. Bayne was known in musical circles as an accomplished pianist and vocalist. She played lead roles in many home talent productions and was a soprano soloist for many years in the choir at St. John's Episcopal Church.

She also was employed at St. Lawrence State Hospital, later St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, as head seamstress for 31 years, retiring in 1968, and was a life member of Maple City Chapter 71, Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean Cleland Pearson, San Francisco, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Betty Bayne Johansen, Minnesota; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and several cousins.

A brother, Harry J. Ingram, and two infant sisters also died before her.
