Harriet Dimmitt married Samuel Dorr on March 25, 1849, in Wapello County, Iowa.
Obituary from "Ottumwa Courier":
Mrs. Harriat[sic] Dimmitt Dorr, was born at Lafayette, Ind., Oct. 1, 1829 and died at the home of her son W.A. Dorr, 337 West Woodland Avenue, Ottumwa, Iowa, November 10, 1910. The deceased came to Iowa in the year of 1845, and since that time had made her home in Wapello County. In early womanhood she was united in marriage to Samuel Dorr. To this union there were born seven children. One child died in infancy. Miss Lizzie died several years ago and the death of O.E. Dorr occured seven weeks ago. The four surviving children are Mrs. G.P. Kitterman of Ottumwa, Mrs. G.W. Giltner of Batavia, Mrs. Mary Handy of Arkansas City, Kansas, and W.A. Door[sic] of this city.
Mrs. Door[sic] had made her home with her son O.E. Dorr for the last fifteen years and since his death, she has been at the home of her son W.A. Dorr. The deceased has been well for a woman of her age. Her last sickness was only for the brief period of one week. She had reached the advanced age of eighty-one years, when she was called from labor to reward. There is left to mourn her loss the four children, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The funeral services were conducted Rev. John W. Pool, pastor of the Main Street M.E. Church. Appropriate selections were beautifully rendered by a quartet consisting of E.H. Mather, H.V. Henness, Mrs. A.W. Slaught and Mrs. John W. Hughes. The body was laid to rest in the Round Point Cemetery.
