Franklin T. Barr Sr. was born Dec. 5, 1930, son of Thomas and Leona Kiah Barr, he graduated in 1951 from Ogdensburg Free Academy and attended Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute in the pipe fitters certificate program. He married Gwenna Bothwell on May 3, 1952, in Ogdensburg. Mr. Barr was a member of the Army National Guard from 1948 to 1954.

Mr. Barr was a pipe fitter at the Aluminum Company of America, Massena, starting in 1951 and retiring in 1988. He then was employed in the maintenance department for 10 years at United Helpers Intermediate Care Facility.

He was a member of Aluminum, Brick and Glass Workers Union Local 420, Knights of Columbus and Show-time. He also served as a volunteer for 35 years for Minor Hockey. He enjoyed his hunting camp in DePeyster, listening to country music and working. During high school, Mr. Barr enjoyed playing basketball and football.

Surviving besides his wife are six sons and five daughters-in-law, Gregory and Ann, Timothy and Dawn, Nicholas and Annette, Paul and MaryBeth, Steven and Renee, and Franklin T. Jr., and his companion, Rachel Pusateri, all of Ogdensburg; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Doxandra and Robert Kinch, Cheryl and Harold Myers, Susan Barr, and her companion, Dennis "Squeak" Montroy, and Linda and Randy Abar, all of Ogdensburg; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jeannine McEwen, Rome, Mary "Molly" and Douglas Ferris, Ogdensburg, and Julia "Judy" and Richard Paquette, Morristown; six brothers and three sisters-in-law, Daniel and Jane, and William, all of Ogdensburg, John and Marilyn, Rensselaer Falls, and Joseph "Gus" and Cheryl, Peter and Michael, all of Ogdensburg; 26 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A brother, Thomas, died before him.
