Gerald A. Ball was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Wyndmere, N.D., son of Chauncey and Ruth Edgerton Ball , he moved to New York from North Dakota at age 12 and attended Philadelphia schools. Mr. Ball served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, attaining the rank of first sergeant. He saw military action in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge, and received a Bronze Star. He married Evelyn Massicks on June 4, 1942, in Columbia, S.C., while in the Army.
Mr. Ball was service manager for Zabriskie Motors, a Buick dealership, and later was a New York state motor vehicle inspector, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he held a variety of offices over the years. He enjoyed his cottage at Devil Lake, Westport, Ontario; stained glass projects, home improvement and outdoor activities.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Michael Mullins, Holland Patent, and Karen and John Neila, Titusville, Fla.; a son and his wife, Gerald A. Jr. and Deborah, Canton; three brothers, Glenn, Carthage, Chauncey, Camillus, and Royce, Stillwater; four sisters, Bertha LaVigne, Watertown, Shirley Teppo, Ballston Spa, Beverly Peck, Rome, and Sharon Cushman, Black River, two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
