Mayme Margaret Bronson was born in Norway Township, Kittson County, Oct. 14, 1912, the daughter of Ephriam and Eleanora (Lindstrom) Bronson. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Lake Bronson High School in 1931. Margaret received her teaching degree from Bemidji State Teachers College in 1932 and taught in country schools for several years.
On April 19, 1935 she married Fred Billings at Halma. The couple farmed in Norway Township until 1967 when they moved to Grafton. While in Grafton they both worked at the State School. In 1977 they retired and moved back to Lake Bronson. Fred died in 1995.
Margaret was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid or WELCA. She entered the nursing home in October, 2000.
Family members include three daughters, Mayme (Arling) Underberg, Kelso, WA, Maxine (James) Sjostrand, Hallock and Lucille (Bruce) Pier, Dickenson, a son, Fredric (Anne) Billings, Lake Bronson; 12 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; a brother, Floyd (Vera) Bronson in Idaho and a sister, Donafae Anderson, Lake Bronson; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Dale, Arthur, Kenneth, Walter and Norman; two sisters, Ellen and Ethel; and a son-in-law, Bob Yon.
Funeral services were Monday, March 31, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson with Rev. Mitch Tolpingrud presiding.
Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson.
Pallbearers were Jeff Sjostrand, Randy Yon, Scott Billings, Leonel Anderson, Henry Duane Klegstad and Brian Hanson.
