ST. IGNATIUS - Alvin Detert, 86, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, in Missoula.
Born in Ceylon, Minn., on May 6, 1916, to Ben and Anna (Saggau) Detert, he moved with his family to Montana at a young age. After receiving his education, Alvin joined the Army Air Corps. He served in China and was involved in flying the hump in Burma. After his military service, he made his home in several places before returning to the Mission Valley where he helped farm.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, sister Verna Lensman and brother Harvey Detert.
A very private man, Alvin never married but will be greatly missed by his family. He leaves behind his brother Herman and sister Marie as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family service will be held Wednesday.
