Actress. A prolific performer of mainly British stage, films and television, she received a Tony Award nomination for her role in the 1974 Broadway production "London Assurance". Born in Derbyshire, England, she attended the Royal School of Music and later became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. After appearing in the productions "The Cherry Orchard" (1958), "The Comedy of Errors" (1965), "Hamlet" (1965) and "Romeo and Juliet" (1966), she made her big screen debut in the 1967 Peter Hall picture "Work is a Four-Letter Word". Among her other film credits are, "Three Into Two Won't Go" (1969), "Lady Chatterley's Lover" (1981), "An Unsuitable Job for a Woman" (1982), "Sense and Sensibility" (1995) and "Paradise Road" (1997). Her television credits include "Shine on Harvey Moon" and "Swiss Toni". She also had a memorable role in the 1994 mini-series "Martin Chuzzlewit".
