SPRINGFIELD - Helmerich J. "H.J." Helmerichs, 96, of Springfield, formerly of Lowder, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at St. John's Hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1909, in Mons, Germany, the son of Hermann and Teite Bohlken Helmerichs.

He married Dora Renken in 1942; she died in 1977.

Mr. Helmerichs farmed in the Lowder area from 1942-89.

He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn and member of DANK German Club and Sangamon County Farm Bureau.

Survivors: daughter, Shirley Springer of Springfield; two grandchildren; sister, Hermine Uden of Germany; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Auburn, the Rev. Richard B. Harre officiating.

Burial: Auburn Cemetery.

Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn is in charge of arrangements.
