Professional Boxer. Born Armando Ramos, he was the World Lightweight Champion from 1969 to 1970 and the WBC Champion in 1972. He defeated Carlos Teo Cruz on February 18, 1969 to win the title and relinquished it to Ismael Laguna on March 3, 1970. He briefly held the WBC Lightweight Title, when he defeated Pedro Carrasco on February 18, 1972 and lost to Chango Carmona on September 15, 1972. Unfortunately, substance abuse hindered the rest of his career. He retired from boxing in 1975 with a record of 37 wins (23 by knockout), 11 losses and 1 draw in 49 bouts. In later years, Ramos would lecture youths about the dangers of alcohol and drugs. (bio by: C.S.)
