Rites pending for Mrs. Stiers
Funeral services are pending for Mrs. Harold (Joan) Stiers, wife of the county bridge foreman, who died suddenly at home Tuesday evening. She was born May 21, 1897, at Percival, Ia., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stella Hayes. She was married to Harold Stiers August 30, 1936, Sabetha, Kansas. The family moved to Nebraska city about 15 years ago after having lived at Percival, Union and Auburn. She was a member of Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, daughter Doris Cole, San Diego and sons Berdell, Chicago and Ralph Umland, Los Angeles. Also surviving are sisters, Mrs. Thelma Butz and Mrs. Gladys Umland, both of Nebraska City and 10 grandchildren. One son, William, and two brothers died in infancy. The Rev. Ward Merritt, Humboldt, will officiate. Gude Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
