Claremore, OK, May 8, 2008 > Funeral service for Odell Woodrow "Odie" Allsup will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Romberg and Pastor Chris Rose officiating. Burial with militaty honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, 1 to 8 p.m., and family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Odie died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 89. The son of Thomas Jerry and Retta Maud (Blackmore) Allsup was born March 15, 1919 in Owasso. He attended Owasso schools and then went on to serve in the U. S. Army during World war II. Odie worked at the Civil Conservation Corps, the Pryor Powder (TNT) Plant, McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft for nine years and then retired after 23 years of service from the U. S. Postal Service in 1982. where he worked in maintenance. On January 6, 1984, Odie married Juanita Eve Scott at Faith Baptist Church. Odie was an active member of the American Legion, and served two terms as Post Commander. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels for 22 years. Odie is survived by his wife, Juanita of the home; Children, Karon Anderson and husband Pete, of Claremore, Donald Giles, of Pryor, Ronald Giles and wife Sheila, of Pryor, David Gideon and wife Carol, of Owasso, Bill Tilley and wife Jennie, of Grove, Charleen Prebble and husband David, of Claremore, Lavonda Davis and husband Greg, of Foyil, and Teresa Baxter of Claremore; siblings, Joe Allsup of Tulsa, Kenneth Allsup of California, Tommy Allsup of Texas, Lorene Roberts of Owasso, Laverne Worley of Owasso, Gladys Willis of Sand Springs, Marcella Bone of Bristow, and Darlene Baldridge of Kellyville; 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel (Gideon) Allsup; his parents, and siblings, Bill Allsup, Buel "Chico" Allsup, Oleta Burns and Mildred Worley.
