Edell Kirchenwitz age 89 of Rockdale, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
He was born June 20, 1919 in the Bethlehem Community in Milan County, Texas to Louis M. and Emma (Brockenbusch) Kirchenwitz.
Edell was a lifelong resident of Rockdale. He was a Rockdale High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II. He retired in 1983 from I.G.C. in Rockdale as a plant operator.
He married his first wife, Roxie Worley on June 18, 1946 in Austin. Together they raised their adopted son.
His second marriage was to Edwina Frasure on January 29, 2000 in Rockdale.
Edell enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Rockdale and served as an Elder Emeritus, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #414 AF&AM, the Scottish Rite in Austin and Eastern Star, Rockdale Chapter 23.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Roxie Kirchenwitz, son, Randy Kirchenwitz, and brother, Elton E. Kirchenwitz.
Survivors are his wife, Edwina Kirchenwitz of Rockdale; a grandson, Eric Kirchenwitz and wife Nikki of Round Rock; daughter-in-law, Sue Stuckey and husband Eric of Austin; granddaughter, Michelle Stuckey of Austin; step son, Ken Frasure of Austin; step daughter, Sandy Wettstein and husband Neil of Rockdale; sister, Bobbi Lois Melcer and husband Floyd of Cleveland, four step grandchildren, Kimberly Wettstein, Derek Wettstein, Andy Bayley and Chad Bayley, and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers were Eric Kirchenwitz, Elders of First Christian Church and Rockdale Masonic Lodge Members. Funeral services were at First Christian Church on June 27, 2007 with burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.
