Mario J. Carbone, 85, of Venice, Florida, died on Wednesday (July 2, 2008).
He was born in Salandra, Italy, the son of the late John and Margherita (Donadio) Carbone. Mario and his family immigrated to Hartford when he was young.
He was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Virginia. Mario and Virginia had residences in Newington, Niantic and Venice, FL. Together they had four children: sons Joseph, Peter and John and a daughter Marianne Cosgrove and four grandchildren: Nikolas, Alexander (Gary), River and Benjamin. He leaves many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends who often joined in the fun that Mario created wherever he went. Mario is also survived by a sister, Beatrice Brien. He was predeceased by two brothers Joseph and Frank. Mario was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was best known for his off-the-wall sense of humor. He made a mean Manhattan and loved Big Band music. Mario, along with Virginia loved to entertain and put out an Italian spread, and especially loved entertaining at their beach house in Giants Neck Beach. Golf and racquetball kept Mario occupied in his retirement years.
Calling hours are on Tuesday, July 9th from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
Funeral Services and Burial in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery will be private.
