JACQUELINE JUNE "JACKIE" GOTZ, 79, of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at 4:30 p.m. Born June 29, 1929, in West Frankfort, Franklin County, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph S. and Theresa Verna (Frick) Spires. She married Reverend Russel B. Gotz on Aug. 23, 1952, at Sellwood Park Church of God, Portland, Ore. In 1958, they moved to Fort Wayne, where Pastor Gotz served as Assistant Pastor at Forest Park Methodist Church. She served as a substitute teacher for three years, and as a full time teacher for six years at Etna-Troy School, prior to teaching and retiring from the Smith-Green School Corporation in Churubusco, where she served for 22 years. In addition to her passion for teaching, she loved the Lord, her family and friends, music and nature. She was a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church. Survivors include her one son, Jon Robert Gotz of Columbia City; two daughters, Teresa Jean Gotz of Columbia City and Michele (Gary) Gotz-Wolff of Wichita, Kan.; two granddaughters, Theresa June and Larisa Lea Wolff, both of Wichita, Kan.; and 10 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reverend Russel B. Gotz, who passed away on June 18, 1997; and brother, James V. Spires. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Columbia City United Methodist Church, 605 Forest Parkway, Columbia City, with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Paul Arnold officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Burial in South Park Annex Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Gotz to Columbia City United Methodist Church Education, Choir or Kitchen Funds, Whitley County Habitat for Humanity, Help Line of Whitley County or Peabody Library Fund.
