Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. He served during the Civil War first as a Captain of Volunteers and Assistant Quartermaster, then as Major and Aide-de-Camp to Major General Ambrose E. Burnside. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers for "gallant and meritorious services at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Va." (bio by: Russ Dodge)
