RUBY VAN GILDER
Ruby Van Gilder, 81, Prairie Creek died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Regional Hospital. She was a retired sales clerk at Schultz Department Store.
She was born Dec. 9, 1907, in Vigo County to Charles Wilson and Josephine Moore Wilson.
Her husband, Willis "Jake" Van Gilder, died in 1975.
Survivors include one daughter, Winnie Jo Cochran of Prairie Creek; one son, Robert L. Van Gilder Sr. of West Terre Haute, eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Prairie Creek First Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star, Pimento Chapter 163.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. David Wilson & Rev. Ray Dyer officiating. Burial is in Prairie Creek Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. today, with Chapter 163 services at 7.
