OBITUARY

ROBERT LEE POWER

Robert Lee Power, 69, of Terre Haute died at 10:41 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 1995, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was a contractor and owner of Power Construction.

He was born July 9, 1925, in Prairie Creek to Herman Power and Eddyth Gobin Power.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Pickett Power; one son, Jeff Power of Terre Haute; one daughter, Sue Swiger of Prairie Creek; two stepsons and spouses, Joe and Myla Woods of Terre Haute and Larry and Pam Woods of Littleton, Colo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Power of Higden, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Power, Kelly Power, Ryan Swiger, Amy Woods, Brad Woods, Scott Woods and Bryan Woods; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Prairie Creek Baptist Church, National Association of Home Builders, Fairbanks Masonic Lodge 373 Free and Accepted Masons, life-member American Legion Post 404 in Prairie Creek and past Sixth District commander and past post commander, life-member Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 972, Terre Haute Elks Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Voiture 21, 40 and 8 and member of Indiana Chapter of LST's.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Van Gilder Power in 1980; his parents; and one son, Brad Power in 1969.

Services are 10:30 a.m Wednesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Dyer officiating. Burial is in Prairie Creek West Lawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Posts 404 and 972. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
