Obituary: “Former Fremont County probate judge dies at 88 --- St. Anthony --- Ruth Bean Schnurle, 88, a retired teacher and former Fremont County probate judge, died May 19, 1994, at her home of natural causes.
She was born August 28, 1905, at Provo, Utah, to Marcellus and Johana (Johanna) Edmons (Edman) Bean. When she was a child, the family moved to the Teton area, where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from St. Anthony High School and received a teacher’s certificate from Albion State Normal School. She also attended Ricks College, the University of Montana, Boise Junior College, and received a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University.
On June 14, 1950, she married Frank Soule at Reno, Nevada. They lived in Redwood, California, Denver, and Beaverton, Oregon. Her husband died in 1953. She had taught school in Utah, Glens Ferry, Warm River, Edmunds, Franklin, Moody, Chester and St. Anthony schools. She also served for two terms as probate judge in Fremont County.
On November 24, 1954, she married Alvin H. Schnurle at Rexburg, and they lived in St, Anthony. She was an avid artist and enjoyed gardening and being a member of several bridge clubs.
Survivors include her husband of St. Anthony; and a brother, John Bean of Teton. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bidwell Funeral Home in St. Anthony with Bishop Richard May of the LDS Church officiating. Friends and family will meet at the funeral home Saturday for one hour before services. Burial will be in Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to Good Samaritan Hospice.”
