August W. Damme
August W. Damme, youngest son of Mrs. Charlotte Damme, died at his home, five miles northwest of Talmage, Thursday afternoon, March 26, at 3:15.
He had been ill since February 25, taking suddenly sick with appendicitis on that date and three days later underwent an operation for the same. He was getting along nicely and it was thought he was well on the way to recovery, but other complications set in the forepart of last week, and he gradually grew worse, death being imminent from the first.
August W. Damme was born February 6th, 1888, being 20 years, 1 month and 20 days old at the time of death. His entire life has been spent on the farm where he died, and he was known to nearly everyone in this neighborhood. He was a young man of exemplary habits, and his early death is mourned by a large circle of friends and many relatives.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, at the house at two o'clock and then at the McWilliams church, Rev. Aleck officiating at the last sad rites. Never before was a funeral so largely attended at that church, there being over 160 rigs in the procession. Interment was made in the McWilliams cemetery.
The sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved family.
