Birth: Feb. 20, 1847
Madison County
Kentucky, USA
Death: Jun. 2, 1932
Madison County
Kentucky, USA

Grocer; cotton planter; Presbyterian; delegate to Republican National Convention from Kentucky, 1904; U.S. Minister to Switzerland, 1905-10. Also served the USA and Kentucky at 1900 Paris Exposition in France.

Pattie A. Clay Infirmary was opened in October 1892 in a two-story brick cottage donated by Brutus J. Clay in memory of his wife Pattie Amelia, who had died the previous year. Until Clay's generous donation, the community's goal of buying property for such a facility seemed an unattainable dream.
