W. J. Bailey, better known as Billie Bailey, was born March 11, 1861, departed from this life February 7, 1923. He was united in marriage to Cyntha Brooks, who with his children, still survive him. Seven children were born unto them, namely Earl Bailey of Iowa; Mrs. Pearl Hughes, Windsor; Garland, Lemuel and Oral, Warsaw; Robert, who died a few years ago, and a little one dying in infancy. Mr. Bailey was sick only a few days with pneumonia.
He professed Christ as his Savior about 8 years ago and united with the Christian church at Post Oak. Mr. Bailey was a good man. He loved his wife and children and for them he worked untiringly.
Mr. Bailey was born and reared in Benton County. He was a hood honest, upright citizen and will be greatly missed in the community in which he lived, and so sadly missed in his home.
The funeral servies were conducted by Rev. James West of Fristoe at the Turkey Creek Chapel, Thursday, February 8, 1923.
