As a single-wing tailback and safety at Ohio State, Victor Felix Janowicz was an All-American and won the Heisman Trophy by an overwhelming vote in 1950 as a junior. He was drafted in the seventh round of the NFL draft by the Redskins in 1952. He served in the Army for a year and then was a baseball catcher for two seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1953 and 1954. He was a halfback for the Washington Redskins in 1954 and 1955 scoring a total of seven touchdowns. During training camp in 1956, he was injured in a car accident which ended his playing career. The accident left him with paralysis of the left side of his body, but he made a full recovery with rehabilitation. He became a broadcaster of Ohio State football games, an account executive with a manufacturing firm in Columbus, and ended his career as an administrative assistant to the state auditor.
