Race car driver. Born in Italy in 1883 and emigrated to the U.S. before the turn of the century. Won nearly 2000 races over 25 years of competing. Competed in 10 Indy 500's and won in 1915. Had a record of leading 613 laps at Indy, a record that stood until it was broken by Al Unser, Sr. in 1987. Inductee in the Motor Sports Hall of Fame. Died in 1956 at the age of 73.
