His mines in Bolivia were expropriated by the government in the Bolivian Revolution of 1952. It is rumored that Antenor Patiño supportedthe military coup that deposed the leader of the revolution, then President Víctor Paz Estenssoro, in the 1964.
He was married, firstly, in Paris on April 8, 1931 to Doña María Cristina de Borbón y Bosch-Labrús (1913-2002), 3rd Duquesa de Dúrcal, a cousin of Alfonso XIII, King of Spain, by whom he had two daughters. They were divorced and he was married, secondly, in London on January 8, 1960 to Contessa Beatriz di Rovasenda (1911-2009), the former wife of Count Giovanni Lodovico di Rovasenda (1905-1986), without issue.
