DeKalb Junction - Mrs. Gertrude Mabel Puffer, wife of William Puffer, died at her home On the Old DeKalb-DeKalb Rd. at 1 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 2, 1951) following a lingering illness.
After undergoing a major operation in the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg, sthe returned to her home Aug. 23, but never regained her health.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from her late home with the Rev. Allan G. Bowering, pastor of the Heuvelton Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be made in DeKalb Union Cemetery.
Surviving her death, besides her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Laura) Murphy, Wingdale, N. Y. and several nieces and nephews. A son, Clifford, died several years ago.
Born Aug. 21, 1877 in the Town of DeKalb, Mrs. Puffer was a daughter of the late Dorr and Laura Backus Stone. In a ceremony performed Oct. 5, 1904 by the Rev. Mr. Jago, then pastor of the Rensselaer Falls Methodist Church, she married William Puffer of Rensselaer Falls. The couple spent their entire married life in the Town of DeKalb.
A member of the DeKalb Rebekah lodge, Mrs. Puffer was also a member of the DeKalb Junction Grange, the Presbyterian Missionary Society and the Presbyterian Church.
