|Birth: ||Dec. 16, 1781|
NOTE 1: THIS IS AN ABANDONED CEMETERY AND THERE IS NO STONE TO PHOTOGRAPH. Please do not request a photo fulfillment :)
NOTE 2: Outside of the original memorial owner's creation of this memorial, the only proof I am aware of that exists for burial is from an older, 2001 transcription record, originally compiled in 1968 (URL: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~miwashte/cemcoop.html). Information about Lydia and her husband William from that page:
COOPER CEMETERY READINGS IN LIMA TWP., WASHTENAW, CO., MI
"Cooper Cemetery is located on the road between Chelsea and Dexter, about one mile east of the Cement Plant in Lima Twp., Washtenaw Co., MI.
A special 'thank you' to Paulette Quartermain who donated the 1825-1940 (compiled in 1968) transcribed records for this cemetery in Dec 2001.
William Cooper and wife Lydia (no stones)
This data, like each new piece of information, must be researched and proved or disproved by weight of evidence & it is always best to consult original primary material for verification."
We can presume that this Cooper Cemetery was originally located on land of William and Lydia, as there were no other Cooper surnames listed in the transcription, and only 3 other markings provided.
NOTE 3: Information from original memorial Holder: "Lydia Cooper, Wife of William, b. 1785; d. unknown"
NOTE 4: We know that Sarah "Sally" "Lydia" Holmes was b. to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Weeks) Holmes on 16 Dec 1781, Clarendon, Rutland, VT (see attached birth record).
The 1850 and 1860 US Censuses show born VT, about 1780-1785.
On 21 Jan 1802, Lydia Holmes married William Cooper in Shoreham, Addison Co., VT (SOURCE: Vermont, Vital Records, 1760-1954 original image; see attached marriage record).
Together, Lydia and William had the following children:
1-Lydia Holmes Cooper (1817 – 1850) m. Jehiel Baker (1 or more ch.)
2-Melissa Cooper (1822 – 1899) did not marry
3-Isaac C. Cooper (1825 – 1897) m. Louise/Louisa --- (4 ch.)
4-Lucy Cooper (1825 – 1890) m. John Stilson (unkn. ch.)
5-William H. Cooper (1829 – ) m. --Lucy?--
Lydia's death date is unknown and being researched. We do know she appeared in 1860 US Census with William but was not in the 1870 US Census; also she does not appear in the 1867-1897 Michigan Death Records, so presumably died between June 1, 1860 and 31 Dec 1866.
