Mr. John A. "Buck" Wilkes, Route 2, Tarrytown, Ga., died Monday, February 4, 1985 at Meadows Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was retired from Oxford of Vidalia, a native of Montgomery County and the son of the late Anthony and Lizzie Yarborough Wilkes. he was a lifetime resident of Montgomery County and a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Muriel Allmond Wilkes of Tarrytown; three grandsons, Ricky Warnock, Vidalia and Clay and Randall Warnock of Tarrytown; one sister, Mrs. Fannie McLain, Jacksonville, Fla., an aunt and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Wilkes were held Tuesday, February 5, 1985 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Fincher officiating and the Rev. J.P. Quattlebaum assisting. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were William Braddy, Larry Atkins, Larry Wilkes, Lamar Hutcheson, Curtis Warnock and Garrett Warnock.
Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
