Former Arlington resident Bernice “Bubbles” Hansen, 96, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at the A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Arlington Community Church. Interment will be at the Arlington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home, with family receiving friends fro 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Bernice Utterback was born July 8, 1911, in Arlington to Lewis and Ella Mae (Bullock) Utterback. She was a lifelong resident of Arlington with the exception of just one year when she lived in Colorado Springs, Co.
She graduated from Arlington High School in 1928, and worked at Marshall Nursery, Loftis Café and tended bar at the Hen & Rooster and Ben’s in Arlington.
On July 12, 1930, she married John E. Hansen in Blair.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of Arlington Community Church, was a charter member of the FOE Auxiliary in Fremont, and was a member of the VFW Post 8332 Auxiliary in Arlington.
She is survived by her son, and daughter-in-law, Ray “Dutch” and Nancy Hansen of Arlington; daughter and son-in-law, Nina and James Lugenbeel of Fairbury; brother-in-law, Milford Hansen of St. Charles, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 50 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, who died in 1985, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ardith Kelley and Nadine Lund; two infant brothers; granddaughter, Patricia Urich; and infant great-granddaughter; and an infant great-great-granddaughter.
Memorials are suggested to Arlington Community Church or the Arlington Over 60 Center
