Union Civil War Veteran Soldier. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he volunteered to serve in the Union Army during the Civil War and enlisted with the 39th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Allen was mustered into Company G as a Private. After the war, he returned to Ohio where he died at his residence from heat exhaustion in Lockland, Ohio when he was 45 years old.
