Genevieve A. Parrish Alvarez, 82 of Parkersburg passed away January 9, 2002 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late Thaddeus Turner & Willa Wilcox Parrish. She attended Stephenson United Methodist Church, was a member of the Ziesing United Methodist Church in Spelter, WV, where she was the pianist and choir director. She graduated from Monongah High School and Fairmont Normal School. She is retired from J C Penney in Fairmont, as a Credit & Layaway Associate.

She is survived by her son, Reverend Terry K. Alvarez and his wife Sally, Granddaughter Maribeth Alvarez, Niece Sharon Duckworth and husband Roger, Grandniece Tara Lynn Duckworth and Grandnephew, Kevin Duckworth. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Alvarez in September 2000, two sisters; Ellen Parrish and Ivona "Bonnie" Menear, and one foster sister, Mabel Parrish.

Memorial Services will be at Stephenson United Methodist Church Saturday January 12, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Terry Alvarez officiating. Interment will be Friday January 11, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to: Stephenson United Methodist Church or Ziesing United Methodist Church.
