County Judge Willis Bertrand Allen, 56 years old, died suddenly of a heart attack as he was cutting wood on his farm near Roberta Sunday, Oct. 14th about 11 a.m.
Judge Allen had suffered heart attacks previously, but appeared to be in good health.
Judge Allen was completing his second term as county judge, he had served one term as sheriff of Meade County; one term as deputy sheriff, and three terms as magistrate of the 6th district, making 28 years as an official of Meade Co.
He was born in Meace Co. Oct. 12, 1917, son of the late Joseph Warren Allen and Anna Pearl Willett Allen.
He was a member of Phillips Memorial Baptist Church and Harrison Lodge # 122 F. & A.M.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Margaret Tucker Allen, 4 children, Mrs Richard (Helen Lois) Hardesty, Mrs Randay (Audrey) Waddell, Edward Allen, all of Pleasure Ridge Park, KY and Mrs Robert (Marjorie) Tyree, Louisville, Ky 5 step-children Mrs Alton (Mary) Worley, and Jimmie Tucker of Brandenburg, Mrs. Virgil (Janet Marie) Atchison; Radcliff, KY and Lori and Lisa Tucker of the home; two sisters, Mrs Joetta Fritz, Radcliff, Mrs Artie Lee Buckler, Cannelton, IN and one brother, Mr. Douglas Allen, Tell City, IN. 9 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren.
Masonic rites were held at 7:00 p.m. Tue. Oct 16, 1973 in the Chapel of Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home by Harrison Masonic Lodge #122 F.&A.M.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wed. Oct 17, 1973 from Chapel of Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Marcum officiating. Interment was in Parr Cemetery directed by Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Pallbearers were; Wilfred Willett, Earl Willett, Lloyd Willett, Abbott Ashcraft, William Stephenson and Lamar Smith.
