John Brown, s/o Thomas & Mary (???) Brown b. 5 p.m., md. 26 May 1801, Bourbon Co., KY by B. W. Stone to Sarah Trotter (1780-1833), d/o Samuel & Sarah (???) Trotter.

I, John Brown of the county of Clermont in the State of Ohio do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.

Second I give and devise and bequeath to my friend Jane Cox the South half of the plantation on which I now Reside situated in the County of Clermont and state of Ohio on the waters of clover lick creek being part of John Brackinridges survey No. 2373 Bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at a Bur oak & two fallen Beeches corner to Obed E. Denham thence south 65 poles E 42 poles with the county road and lane to a stake at the turn of the Road Thence South 61 degrees 51 minutes East 214 2/10 poles to a stake in the County Road leading from Bethel to Williamsburg Thence South 57 degrees 21 minutes West 62 1/2 poles to a sugar tree & two dogwoods all fallen Thence North 14 degrees 7 minutes West 191 1/4 poles to the Beginning containing one hundred and three acres & 138 1/2 poles during her natural life if she Remains Single, In case she marry the said land is to be Sold and Said Jane is to have five hundred dollars of the money for which said land is sold, and the Remainder to be divided Equal Between my Brother Joseph Browns six sons, But in case of the death of said Jane Cox without marriage then the whole of the proceeds of the said land is to be divided with my Brothers sons aforesaid.

I also give to said Jane Cox two Beds & Bedding to be selected by herself also one clock and case one desk and Book case one dining table and as many Books as she may choose to select out of my lot of Books, and two cows such as she may choose out of my stock.

Thirdly I give and devise to Mariah Quick one Bed and Bedding and fifty dollars in money.

Fourthly, I give and devise to Philip T. Quinlan one hundred dollars to be put at interest until he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years.

Fifthly I give to Alpheus Tribble one hundred dollars to compensate him for to erect tombstones at my grave.

6th The North half of my plantation I wish my Executor to sell at publick sale and the money put at interest and paid to William Arthurs and James Arthurs, five sons say Joseph Arthur & John Arthur (Williams sons) and William Arthur John Arthur and Ohio Arthur, James sons, as they may arrive at the age of twenty one years.

7th I wish the Remainder of my Estate if any Remains to be Equally divided with the aforesaid heirs of James Arthur, William Arthur and Joseph Browns.

8th and lastly I hereby constitute and appoint Alpheus Tribble and William B. Reed to be the Executors for this my last will and testament Revoking and annulling all former wills by me made and Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. Whereof I have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of February 1841.
