Brig-Gen W.T. Sexton,6th Army,is shown presenting the Bronzr star medal to Air Force T-Sgt. Perley H. Allen, son of Mr.and Mrs. Perley W. Allen, PoquanticutAve. Easton, for heroism in central Korea.

Tech-Sgt.Perley H. Allen distinguished himself by heroism in surface combat against the armed enemy of the United States on the morning of 17 June 1951 in central Korea. During a night bombing raid, one of the units aircraft recieved a direct bomb hit, causing instantaneous fire. This aircraft was in close proximity to other aircraft and equipment on the ramp threatening them with both fire and explosion. Although the base was still under attack by enemy aircraft and an explosion of the burning aircraft was probabal and expected, Tech-Sgt Allen unhesitatingly ran into the area of danger and began moving the endangered equipment to safety. His act of heroism and intense devotion to duty enabled him and his comrades to move other equipment from the danger area. Through his complete disregard for personal safety and his exemplary devotion to duty in his unselfish desire to save valuable aircraft and equipment. Technical Sergeant Allen has brought the highest credit himself, his comrades in arms of the United Nations, and the United States Air Force.

That was one of the many sacrafices my father and other men who served beside him made for our country and freedom. The Allen children are emencely proud of our father and everything he has done for us. My father served 28 years in the Air Force making it to Major, then decided it was time to come home and raise his children. He was the best father, never to hard on us and always very loving, I know he is proud of us and his many grandchildren, they all know what he's done in his life time and are very proud to be his grand babies.
