Washington Knight (1840-1963) is the son of Henry Knight & Ann Van Lew. He was one of ten children (Phillip Henry, Ann, Rachel, Matilda, Washington, Richard William, Jefferson, Madison, Hannah, and Lucinda). He trained to be a blacksmith before serving in the Union during the Civil War.

Civil War Veteran - WASHINGTON KNIGHT - SERGEANT - COMPANY C - 74th NEW YORK VOLUNTEER INFANTRY - Killed on July 2, 1863, and was initially buried on Nicholas Codori's farm; He had enlisted at Flushing, New York, and was 21 years of age at the time of his enlistment. (Added by Karl Stelly)
