EDWARD PERCY FURTNEY Died, in Rockford, Sunday evening, of pulmonary tuberculosis, Edward Percy Furtney, of Minneapolis, who came up about ten days ago to visit his sister, Mrs. Lavine. Mr. Furtney was a son of A.W. Furtney and was born in Medford, Minn., January 11, 1876. He has followed railroading for several years and up to about a year ago when he was attacked by the fatal disease. He leaves a wife and three children, three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Dixon, Mrs. Lavine and Mrs. Hatch, as well as his father, to mourn his loss. About a year ago Mr. Furtney united with the Brethren's church of Minneapolis, and his funeral service was conducted by Rev. Barnhardt, of Minneapolis, and the song service by Miss Bertha Brunskill and Mrs. Shary, also of Minneapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Blackwood, as well as other relatives from Minneapolis, came up to attend the funeral. The floral offerings were very appropriate and beautiful. His body rests in Elmwood cemetery.

Edward was born the son of Aaron William & Martha F Hibbard Furtney. He & Carrie Rogers were married April 17, 1900. Ed passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. LaVine. Death was caused by tuberculoses. Ed spent the later years of his life at Minneapolis. He worked for the railroad for part of his life. He is survived by his wife and three children; by three sisters, Minnie(Thomas) Dixon, Mrs. LaVine and Mrs. Hatch; & by his father, Aaron. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Barnhardt of the Brethren's Church, Minneapolis officiating.

Edward was the husband of Carrie Rogers (daughter of Nathaniel & Ellmina Slaughter Rogers). After he passed away, Carrie married Joseph Blake. Carrie is buried in Sunset Memorial Cemetery - Minneapolis, MN. Ed & Carrie had 3 children, the oldest being just 10 years old at the time of her father's death. The children are Ruth, Clifford, & Gladys. A son, Charles, passed away June 7, 1901 when just 7 days old.
