Professional Football Player. He was selected as a linebacker in the fourth round of the 1953 National Football League draft by the Baltimore Colts. He played in five NFL seasons, four seasons with the Cleveland Browns and one season with the Philadelphia Eagles. A star defensive standout and All-American athlete at the University of Oklahoma, he lead the Sooners to the 1950 NCAA college football title under legendary coach Charles "Bud" Wilkinson. Following his playing career in the National Football League, he served as an assistant coach with the Dallas Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks. He retired from the NFL in 1996 after serving as the Seahawks assistant head coach and defensive coordinator from 1983 to 1995. He died at the age of 76, shortly after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. (bio by: Nils M. Solsvik Jr.)
