Chevetta Dianne Baldwin
Funeral for Chevetta Dianne Baldwin, 30, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greater Galilee Baptist Church with James E. Thornton, pastor, officiating.
Miss Baldwin died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, in Lawton.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Howard-Harris Funeral Services.
She was born Jan. 15, 1978, in Lawton, to Marjorie and Clarence Baldwin. She attended schools in Lawton, Germany and Hawaii. She graduated from Vo-tech and Eisenhower High School in May 1996. She worked in many local food establishments, earning employee of the month at several. She volunteered at Comanche County Memorial Hospital and was recognized for her service. She was a lifelong member of Greater Galilee Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher board, in the Mass Choir, Mime Team and Women's Missionary Union. She was elected queen of the Western District YWA's. At the time of her death, she was assistant chairperson of her mission circle and state vice-president of the YWA's.
Survivors include her parents, Marjorie and Wingard Hollis, Lawton; and Clarence and Ada Baldwin, Lancaster, Texas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Clarence Jr. and Barbara Baldwin, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Darryl Baldwin, Hephizlah, Ga.; and Michael and Miranda Hollis, Maysville; seven sisters and four brothers-in-law: Lottie and Fredricke Sledge, Lawton; Patricia and Michael Dennis, Fayetteville, N.C.; Angela and James Williams, San Jose, Calif; Lyna Crooms, Arlington, Texas; Venita Carnell, Lawton; Charlotte Hollis Johnson, Glendale, Calif.; and Tasha and Johann Peniche, Lawton; a sister-in-law, Vickie Baldwin; her grandparents, Leroy and Sarah Simmons, Kannapolis, N.C.; a special friend, Harold McKee, Lawton; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard "Pete" Baldwin; maternal grandparents, Roberta and Henry Thomas, Olivet Thomas; and paternal grandparents: Lottie and Wymon Baldwin, and Robert Glenn.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
