Graveside services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Moran Cemetery for Mrs. Edith Blanche Burns. Mrs Burns, 78, was the wife of the late Dr. W. A. Burns who practiced in
Albany soon after World War I, and then practiced in Moran from 1921 till 1929, when he passed away. Dr. Burns was the son of a pioneer Shackelford County ranch family.
Mrs. Burns died May 11, 1971 in Bismarck, N.D., following a long illness. She had been in Bismarck since 1968 to be near her son.
Mrs. Burns was a native of Lancaster, S.C., where she was born, daughter of the late James Winston and Amelia McAteer Jennings. She was a registered nurse and married Dr. Burns in New York in 1919.
Mrs. Burns and her two sons, Bill and Bob resided in Moran until 1935, when they moved to Abilene and the next year they moved to Austin, where her sons were educated. She remained there until 1968 when she moved to Bismarck.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
