MRS. LAVINA PITTMAN GILLESPIE

Mrs. Lavina Pittman Gillespie, 69, resident of Gillespie Corners for the past 37 years, died Wednesday evening at her home. She was born April 29, 1870, in Benton County, the daughter of Jacob and Rhoda Pittman, who settled there in 1848. She married Mercellus (sh/be Marcellus) Gillespie July 3, 1900 in Corvallis. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors are Mr. Gillespie; one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Martin and one grandson, James Martin, both of Eugene; two sisters, Mrs. Lucretia Robinett and Mrs. I.E. Lawrence, both of Eugene, and two brothers, D.D. Pittman of Corvallis and J.D. Pittman of Ashland.

Funeral services will be held from the Branstetter-Simon chapel Friday at 10 a.m., Rev. LeRoy Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in the McCullough cemetery. ~~~END~~~

NOTE: The cause of Lavina Gillespie's death was breast cancer.

Lavina Pittman was the youngest child of Jacob Pittman and Rhoda Ann (Hallock) Pittman. She married Marcellus Gillespie on 03 Jul 1900 in Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon. They had one adopted child, Ella Juanita Gillespie.
