Karen F. "Kay" Campbell, age 68 , of Biggsville, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. She was born on May 1, 1940 in Loami, Illinois, the daughter of Hardin and Bertha Ross Rowden.
She was raised in Loami and Waverly, Illinois. She attended Waverly Schools and graduated from Waverly High School in 1958.
Kay married William D. Campbell, on May 29, 1970, in Yates City, Illinois. He survives
Kay began working as a secretary for Franklin Life Insurance for a time. After her marriage, she was a homemaker residing in rural Stronghurst. She then worked at the I.A.A.P. in Middletown, Iowa. Upon moving to Orlando, Florida, Kay worked in food service at Walt Disney World for eight years. They moved back to rural Biggsville in 1978.
Kay is a partner with her husband at "Authorized Appliance Sales and Service " in the Biggsville area.
Kay was an active member of the Rozetta Baptist Church. Kay loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed antiques, cooking and family dinners, and working in the yard, gardening and flowers.
Surviving are her husband, Bill Campbell of Biggsville, Illinois and three daughters, Anita Smith and Bruce of Biggsville, Debbie Graham and Brad of Moody, Alabama and Cyndi Campbell and Jim Stadler of Pekin, Illinois. Her son Tim Campbell of Pekin, Illinois survives. Seven grandchildren and three great granddaughters. Also surviving are three sisters, Helen Wrightsman and Marvin of Virden, Illinois, Barb Koertge and Ric of Chatham, Illinois, Peggy Dodge of Springfield, Illinois and one brother, Ken Rowden and Nancy of Emden, Missouri as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Services: A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Rozetta Baptist Church in Rozetta, Illinois. Interment will be in the Rozetta Cemetery. Kay's family will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund is being established for Rozetta Baptist Church.
