Professional Football Player, Professional Basketball Player. He excelled at football and basketball during his collegiate years at the University of Iowa and was a member of the Hawkeye team known as the "Ironmen" of 1939. He played at the end position for four seasons (1940 to 1943) in the National Football League with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cardinals. He also played for three seasons (1940 to 1943) in the National Basketball League (NBL) with the Hammond Ciesar All-Americans, Sheboygan Redskins and Chicago Bruins. During his NFL career, he appeared in 27 games. In the NBL, he appeared in 32 career games. After retiring as a player, Evans served as an assistant coach for several NFL teams. (bio by: C.S.)
