Elizabeth P. "Liz" Blitch, a partner at McGlinchey Stafford law firm, died Thursday of cancer at her home. She was 55. Ms. Blitch was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 30 years. She attended Dominican High School, was a graduate of Loyola University and graduated cum laude from Loyola University School of Law. Ms. Blitch was a member of the Loyola Law Review and a recipient of the Gisevius Award for Excellence in Moot Court Competition. She was a former President of the New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel and vice president of the Association of Women Attorneys. She was a member of the Jefferson Parish Personnel Board, the New Orleans Bar Association Inns of Court and was co-chairperson of the Louisiana State Bar Association Action Committee Lawyer's Helping Hands Project. She was a sponsor and fund-raiser for the Humane Society of Louisiana. Ms. Blitch taught in the New Orleans parochial school system for 16 years, at St. Anthony of Padua Grammar School and Rummel High School. Survivors include an uncle and four cousins. A Mass will be said today at 12:15 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1.
