He had reatively small roles and was frequetly cast as doctors, detective inspectors and pub landlords which he played with distiction. He had already began acting for drama school for theatrical experience before the start of WW II. He joined the RAF while assuming an irish accent and did a story "The Gentle Gunman", a story about an IRA member who renounces violence. On September 26th, 1950 The BBC made this his television debut. His many guest appearances on televison include: "Dixon of Dock Green", "Z cars", "The Avengers", "The Onediline" and a host of many others. He is best remembered for his work in "Doctor Who" playing villains : as Mavic Chen in "The Dalekls Master Plan", as Tobias Vaughn in "The Invasion" and as Tyrum in "Revenge of The Cybermen."
Cause of death: Skin cancer.
