Obituary
Thomas Beasley, 89, pioneer Niwot resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, at a Boulder hospital following an illness of several weeks.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Beasley, Tom Beasley was born Dec. 11, 1870 near Ralston Creek, west of Arvada, Colo. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the St. Vrain Valley, where Mr. Beasley lived most of his life.

As a young man, Mr. Beasley assisted his father in farming and ranching operations. His was the role of early-day cowboy, who worked the cattle roundups. Later, as a cattleman, he raised shorthorn cattle on his farm in the Longmont and Niwot communities.

Mr. Beasley was married on Oct. 26, 1894 to Grace Reliance Miller, who died Nov. 7, 1909.

Mr. Beasley was an active member of the Niwot Grange; he served as a director of the Boulder White Rock Ditch Co. for many years; served as a member of the school board of Beasley District 42; was an active member of the St.Vrain Pioneer Assn.; and the Woodmen of the World.

Following his retirement from farming, Mr. Beasley devoted much of his time to raising prize winning roses. He was honored as one of the pioneer cowboys of the area and as "Mr. St.Vrain Pioneer" participated in the Boulder County Fair and Rodeo parade for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. C.A. (Modesto) Lippincott of Niwot, one son, George Beasley of Parkville, Mo; one sister, Mrs. Elmer Johnson of Longmont, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

During recent years, the Beasley family held an annual reunion at Roosevelt Park, with 300 members of the Beasley family in attendance last summer.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 20, from Lewellyn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Gayley of Niwot officiating. Interment was in Burlington Cemetery.
