WEST COLUMBIA - Services for Donald H. "Duck" Derrick, 70, of West Columbia will be held at 11 a.m. today at State Street Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Pete Cassidy, with burial at Celestial Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Link Crapps, Wayne Price, Michael Hall, Billy Wolfe, Tommy Hall and Dickie Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers will be the ABC Sunday School Class of State Street Baptist Church, Freddie Ford, Melvin Jones and Buddy Franklin. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is in charge.
Mr. Derrick died Wednesday April 3. 2002. Born in West Columbia, he was the son of the late James Guy and Vera Hook Derrick. A lifetime local resident, he was a retired truck driver of Southeastern Freight Lines and an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the State Street Baptist Church and the ABC Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta Metcalf Derrick; step-mother, Alma Derrick; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Harold "Hal" and Sueann Derrick Jr. of West Columbia and Robert Wayne and Shelly Derrick of Lexington; sister, Elaine Brown of Lexington; and grandchildren, Nicholas Lee Derrick, Amanda Bryant, Kimberly Bryant and Elizabeth LeGrande.
