David McAllister, 63, Sturgeon Bay, passed away at home on Wednesday evening, May 21, 2008, surround by family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 10, 1945, in Door County, the son of Ward and Lois (Anderson) McAllister. After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School with the class of 1963, he went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in agriculture. David served his country in Vietnam with the United States Army until his retirement from the Army in 1969. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. David married Marilyn Schultz in Pulaski in October 18, 1969. He was employed with Farm Credit Services and the F & M Bank of Algoma as a loan officer. More recently, he worked as a private agricultural consultant. He was a member of Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. David enjoyed carpentry and travel, and he especially loved Sturgeon Bay. His analytical mind served him well, working for many years with the Sturgeon Bay City Council and with the Utility Commission. David was a humble man, not one to draw attention to himself. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Tricia (Eric) Metzer; and son, William (Renee), all of Sturgeon Bay; special nieces, Tiffany (Mike) Meyers and Kathe Lison (and her friend, Chris); sister, Nancy (Ernie) Wiegand; five grandchildren, Christian Hooker, Iris Metzer, Alexis and Sophia McAllister and Trenton Phillips; great-nephew, Waylon Meyer; nieces and nephews, Randy Cox, Dana Cox, Leah Cooley, Deb DeMeuse, Diane Hank, Steve Wiegand and Dale Wiegand; and his sister-in-law, Carol Cox. A celebration of his life will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Bay View Lutheran Church, with the Reverends Tim Maleck, Jerry Groth and Stan Lillitch officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Moravian Cemetery.
